Hotel information
Kalypso Cretan Village is situated at Plakias, 31 km south of Rethymno.
The Hotel is located in a grand environment, in a small, isolated gulf. It lies amid 50,000 m² of gardens and rocks, and has been created with respect to nature's beauty and retaining traditional Cretan style.
Room information
The village consists of small buildings of around 15 rooms each, built in a traditional Cretan style.
In respect to nature, the Kalypso Hotel has only 125 rooms, up to 34 m² each, and all with a balcony or terrace.
Food & beverage
Situated under the terrace and overlooking the swimming pool, the restaurant is the place where breakfast, lunch and dinner are served. Whether you choose the outdoor tavern or the air conditioned lounge, one thing is sure; you will love the buffet.
Prepared in a homely way inside the hotel, meals are a delicate blend of Greek and European cuisine. The main bar and its terrace are the hotel’s evening meeting points. Whether you want to relax, listen to music at sunset, participate in the hotel’s social life or just have a drink with your friends, you will find that the terrace is the ultimate place to be.
Attached to the pool, the pool bar serves drinks and light snacks all day long.

With more than 4,000 years of history, the region is characterised by its rich tradition and culture as well by the wilderness and the beauty of its landscape.
Whether you use the hotel minibus to go to the nearby village of Plakias, or to the superb sand beach of Damnoni, you will find impressive, wild nature. In close proximity, the Preveli white sand beach, its natural palm grove and the nearby monastery are an incomparable mix of culture, art, tradition and natural beauty.
In the surroundings, the visitor will also find many Byzantine monuments, great sandy beaches and taverns to enjoy the taste of Cretan traditional cuisine.
The gorges of Kotsyfou and Kourtaliotis are the usual entrances to the mountainous area of Plakias. They are the natural habitat of rare and endangered species like the golden eagle or the elenora’s falcon. Along the coast, a great variety of birds feed and nest.
Herbs of the region are renowned worldwide for their multiplicity and medicinal qualities. Plants like the Cretan Tulip, the Cretan Crocus and many others are part of this unique ecosystem.

By Plane:
From Heraklion (115 km) or Chania (95 km) airports:
From March to October, both these airports receive many charter flights directly from most of European capitals. During winter, there are many daily flights from Athens International Airport.
By Boat:
Throughout the year, ferries leave many times a day to Chania, Iraklion or Rethymno. Furthermore, from April to October there are connections to other Aegean Islands.
