Monasteries in the region include Vrontisi and Valsamonero. The famous Agia Triada (Holy Trinity) and Gortyn, where the Phaistos Disc was found, are also of great historical interest. By hiring a car or bike, you can easily explore the surrounding villages and popular beaches. Every Friday and Saturday, a bazaar is held in Timbaki and Mires and in the nearby villages of Kamilari and Pitsidia you can really get a taste of remarkable Greek culture.
